8 Tidio Alternatives for Shopify in 2026

Compare eight Tidio alternatives for Shopify. Explore AI sales features, support workflows, connected channels and billing models to find the right fit.

By Matthias Frisch

Which Tidio alternative fits the way your team works?

Choose according to what you want to improve: product advice, a team helpdesk, connected channels or a simpler storefront setup. Flyweight, Gorgias, Fin, Chatty, Crisp, Freshdesk, tawk.to and Shopify Inbox offer different routes. Tidio itself already supports Shopify product data, AI recommendations and configured actions, so switching should solve a specific problem.

Flyweight is our own product. This comparison uses official product documentation and published plans, reviewed on October 27, 2026. It is not a hands-on benchmark. Features and allowances can change; sources are linked below.

What are you replacing in Tidio?

Tidio combines live chat, Flows automation and Lyro AI. Its Shopify integration supports synchronized product data, stock-aware recommendations, cart context and add-to-cart. Lyro can use website content, files and connected knowledge; it is not limited to answers your team types manually.

Tidio also offers configured AI actions and a Copilot extension. Its integration overview, shopping-assistant documentation and Copilot guide explain those capabilities.

Before moving, identify the gap: complex product decisions, an existing helpdesk, a channel requirement, workflow control or the way usage is billed. If your shortlist is already down to two products, read Flyweight vs Tidio for the detailed comparison.

1. Flyweight: Shopify knowledge, sales and custom workflows

Flyweight turns your store content and specialist knowledge into a Knowledge Graph. Your AI can help shoppers compare products, choose a compatible option and find useful accessories. Proactive popups and Quick-Actions bring customers into the conversation; lead forms can turn a high-value enquiry into a follow-up for your sales team.

Support uses that same knowledge. Configured order actions and custom integrations can complete repetitive tasks within your rules. New: WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook Messenger are live. Ticket Copilot remains in beta for drafting replies in supported email and helpdesk tools.

Consider it when: your products need explaining or your processes need more than a standard chatbot configuration. A dedicated contact with development experience helps build and improve the setup.

Check before choosing: Flyweight is Shopify-focused. Custom sources, integrations and actions need an agreed scope. Plans are tailored to your store. With the ROI guarantee, you only pay for the first three months if the AI pays for itself against agreed written criteria.

2. Gorgias: Shopify helpdesk operations and AI

Gorgias brings customer conversations and Shopify context into a helpdesk, with routing, team workflows and an AI Agent for support and shopping assistance. It is worth evaluating when your team’s daily work revolves around tickets and you want AI within that operation.

The AI Agent is available across Gorgias plans, rather than being absent from entry plans. Its commercial model distinguishes helpdesk tickets from AI-resolved conversations; channels such as voice and SMS can add separate charges.

Check before choosing: how automated and human-handled work count toward allowances, and which channels and integrations you need. See Gorgias’s current plans or our Flyweight vs Gorgias comparison.

3. Fin: AI with your existing helpdesk or Intercom

Fin can run with Intercom or supported existing helpdesks. You do not necessarily need to replace your helpdesk or buy Intercom seats to use it. Its retail offering includes Shopify-connected shopping and support capabilities.

Consider it when: you want AI to work within an established support operation, or are evaluating Intercom as the wider platform.

Check before choosing: which ecommerce features work with your selected deployment. Fin’s billing unit is an outcome, which can include a resolution or a configured procedure handoff. It should not be treated as synonymous with a reply or an entirely automated resolution. Intercom platform seats are a separate consideration when you choose that platform.

See Fin’s FAQs, outcome definition and retail offering. Our Intercom comparison adds Shopify-specific context.

4. Chatty: Shopify AI sales chat and a shared inbox

Chatty combines catalog-based AI assistance, live chat and connected email and social conversations. It supports recommendations, proactive shopping features and selected order actions, including eligible shipping-address changes.

Consider it when: you want a Shopify-focused package with a recurring free AI allowance and a shared inbox for your team.

Check before choosing: product capacity, AI availability on each channel and conversation allowances. Chatty counts AI conversations, not individual replies. Its free tier has a limited product capacity, while paid plans expand the setup.

See Chatty’s official plans and our Chatty AI Chatbot vs Flyweight comparison.

5. Crisp: a multichannel workspace

Crisp combines a website chat widget, shared inbox and AI features in a workspace that can serve sites on different platforms. It is a useful option to evaluate when you want your team’s conversations together in one place.

Its workspace-based plans include different seat bundles, features and AI credits. Workspace pricing does not mean every channel, unlimited seats or unlimited AI are included on every plan.

Check before choosing: WhatsApp and other channel availability, included seats and how AI usage is metered. Use Crisp’s current plan comparison to match the package to your operation.

6. Freshdesk: structured ticket management and Freddy AI

Freshdesk is worth evaluating for teams that need helpdesk workflows, service levels, collaboration and reporting. Freddy AI adds automation and assistance, but the package matters: Freshdesk, Freshdesk Omni and Freshchat are not interchangeable plans.

Consider it when: a formal support process is the main requirement, rather than a Shopify-specific buying assistant.

Check before choosing: agent-seat licensing, AI sessions and Copilot access. Freshdesk’s advertised Free Program is time-limited to six months for up to two agents; it should not be presented as a permanent free helpdesk. See Freshdesk’s plans and plan guidance.

7. tawk.to: free core live chat, with AI options too

Tawk.to offers free core live chat, team messaging and knowledge-base tools. It also offers trainable AI agents, so describing it as a human-only chat tool would be outdated.

Consider it when: free core chat is important and you want to evaluate human support and AI options around it.

Check before choosing: the AI-agent allowance and capabilities you need, branding options and any additional services. Free live chat does not establish that every possible AI setup is unlimited. See the tawk.to product overview and AI automation offering.

8. Shopify Inbox: native storefront chat and optional AI

Shopify Inbox is free on Basic, Grow, Advanced and Plus. Its optional agent can answer from store knowledge, make product recommendations, add items to the cart and look up orders for signed-in customers.

Consider it when: your conversations mainly happen on the storefront and you want to stay within Shopify’s native tools.

Check before choosing: the AI setup requires new customer accounts, and Inbox focuses on storefront conversations. It does not replace a wider multichannel helpdesk. See Shopify’s Inbox documentation and our Shopify Inbox comparison.

Compare billing units before comparing budgets

The right comparison uses your expected workload, not two headline prices.

  • AI conversations: check what starts a new conversation and whether an allowance renews. Tidio’s initial 50 Lyro conversations are an introductory allowance, not a recurring monthly free allocation.
  • Tickets and resolutions: ask whether an automated conversation also counts as a helpdesk ticket, and how a resolved conversation is defined.
  • Outcomes: include any billable handoffs or other outcomes in the provider’s definition.
  • Seats, sessions and credits: check how many people and channels are included, and what consumes AI usage.
  • Custom plans: agree the connected sources, integrations, setup work and ongoing support in the scope.

Tidio’s own pricing page distinguishes customer-service conversations, Lyro conversations and Flows visitors. Compare those with the units and features of your shortlisted alternative, without assuming a tool is cheaper because it uses a different label.

How to choose a Tidio alternative

Start with a small set of real customer questions. Include a product comparison, a difficult compatibility question, an order request, a policy exception and a handover. Test the same cases in each setup.

Then look beyond the answer: can the customer take the next step, and can your team maintain the setup? Confirm source updates, permissions, escalation, channel coverage and data-processing terms. A strong demo on a simple FAQ does not settle those questions.

If your main aim is selling through conversations, our AI chatbot for Shopify guide compares product discovery, upselling, lead capture and support across ten tools.

How to move from Tidio without losing useful knowledge

  1. List what you use today. Separate Lyro knowledge, Flows, live chat, channels and external actions.
  2. Prepare your content. Decide which Shopify sources connect automatically and which Tidio-specific content or conversation history needs exporting and importing separately.
  3. Configure and test the replacement. Check real questions, authentication, escalation and actions before opening it to customers.
  4. Switch the customer-facing widget deliberately. Avoid competing chat launchers and keep the records your team still needs.

Connecting a Shopify catalog is not the same as migrating all your workflows or chat history. Agree the work involved before setting a launch date.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best Tidio alternative for Shopify?
It depends on the job. Evaluate Flyweight for complex product advice and tailored workflows, Gorgias for helpdesk operations, Chatty for a Shopify chat-and-inbox package, or Shopify Inbox for native storefront chat. Test your own questions before deciding.
Is there a free alternative to Tidio?
Shopify Inbox is free on eligible Shopify plans, tawk.to offers free core live chat, and Chatty has a recurring free AI allowance. Free offers differ in AI usage, product limits and channels; they are not equivalent.
Does Tidio automatically connect to Shopify products?
Yes. Lyro connects to Shopify product data and supports shopping assistance. Moving to another tool should address a specific requirement, rather than the mistaken assumption that Tidio only uses manually written FAQs.
Can I use Fin without switching to Intercom?
Yes, Fin supports existing helpdesk deployments. Check the supported integration, ecommerce capabilities and outcome billing for the setup you intend to use.
Will my Tidio conversations move automatically?
Do not assume so. Connecting your Shopify store supplies store data, not another tool’s conversation history. Confirm export, import and retention options separately from the new catalog connection.
