Zendesk AI Costing Too Much? Keep Zendesk, Draft Replies with Flyweight

Keep Zendesk for ticketing and add Flyweight as the AI layer that drafts store-grounded replies your agents review and send.

The Zendesk AI bill keeps climbing ๐Ÿ“ˆ

Zendesk is a solid helpdesk. Routing, tags, SLAs, reporting - it handles the queue well, and there's no reason to replace it.

The expensive part is the AI. Zendesk's AI features sit on top of your seats and bill per resolution, so as the AI handles more, your costs go up. And that's the frustrating part: even with that add-on, it still doesn't know your Shopify store. It answers from a separate knowledge base you have to manage manually, which means maintaining content in two places and still hoping catalog answers are right.

So yes, you're paying twice: once for seats, once for resolutions, and again in the time your team spends keeping a second knowledge base up to date.

The fix: swap the AI, keep Zendesk ๐Ÿ”ง

You don't need a new helpdesk. You need a better AI layer inside the one you already use.

Flyweight Ticket AI does exactly that. It's powered by the Flyweight Copilot, a browser extension that opens a side panel right next to your Zendesk inbox. Your agents stay in Zendesk. What changes is who's drafting the reply: the same on-brand AI that runs your storefront chat, grounded in a Knowledge Graph of your full Shopify store.

No second knowledge base to maintain. No per-resolution meter on your support AI. Keep Zendesk for the queue, and let Flyweight draft the answers.

How it works โšก

  1. Your agent opens a ticket in Zendesk, just like they do today.
  2. The Copilot reads the conversation and pulls the customer's Shopify orders and details into the side panel.
  3. It drafts an on-brand reply grounded in your store: products, variants, policies, FAQs, and the live order context.
  4. Your agent reviews, edits, and inserts it into the Zendesk reply box.

That last step matters: nothing goes out until a human sends it. There is no auto-send. Your agent stays in control the whole time, and can ask the Copilot to refine a draft or show its work - which orders it checked, which store guidance it used, and how it wrote the reply.

What it actually knows ๐Ÿง

The reason these drafts land is grounding. Instead of answering from a manually maintained FAQ, the Copilot pulls from a Knowledge Graph of your full Shopify catalog: products, variants, collections, policies, and pages, plus the customer's live order context from the ticket.

That graph refreshes every 24 hours, so when you update a policy or add a product, the drafts stay current without anyone re-uploading documents. Every answer is grounded in your real store content, with the source visible to your agent. That reduces hallucinations and keeps replies reliable, even in niche cases where details matter. If there isn't enough store content to answer well, the Copilot says so instead of making something up.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to leave Zendesk?
No. Flyweight runs inside Zendesk as a side panel. You keep Zendesk for ticketing, routing, tags and reporting, and Flyweight adds the AI layer that drafts store-grounded replies. See the Ticket AI overview for the full picture.
Does it send replies automatically?
No. It prepares a ready-to-send draft that your agent reviews, edits and sends. Nothing goes out until a human sends it.
How is this cheaper than Zendesk's own AI?
With Flyweight, the AI is the product and it's included from the start, not a premium add-on billed per resolution on top of your seats. You also skip the second knowledge base, because the drafts are grounded in your whole Shopify store automatically.
How do I get access?
